Birthday Parties

One of the joys of having kids is all the birthday parties you get invited to.  Our pastor’s daughter turned 2 this week and had the cutest ice cream party.  Our church is relatively young, so it’s so much fun being in a community where we’re all at basically the same stages in life.  At the moment we’re in the “having babies” stage, so it’s going to be so much fun to watch everyone grow up together (babies and parents alike).  It brings me so much joy to know that Bennett will grow up in a community having friends and people that he knows love him.  What a blessing of security that is for him and for us.

These two are close in age and will get into so much trouble together.  It seems like they’re always plotting something…

Of course, you can’t have a summer birthday in Arkansas without getting wet.

Thanks for inviting us to a super fun birthday party!

Daddy’s Home!

For the past week, Michael has been living at Arkansas Tech in Russellville getting some training to teach a Robotics class (more on that later!).  So, I’ve been thrown into the woes of single motherhood.  Okay, it wasn’t that bad.  It did make me super grateful to have a mate to help me with this rambunctious, busy toddler.  Hats off to you single moms out there; I don’t know how you do it.

In other news, Bennett tried a popsicle for the first time!  It was a hit!  (Like I had any doubts… he is my kid after all.)

Jersey Boys

My dad and I went to see Jersey Boys last night here in Little Rock.  I LOVED it!  Really great show.  Lots of good music, dancing, and generally some pretty good acting.  Definitely worth seeing.  It makes me excited to go to New York next summer…  Ahhhhhh!

People say my dad and I look alike.  When I was 7 or 8, I went to their high school reunion and some random person from their class came up to me and said, “You must be Guy Thompson’s daughter.”  It totally freaked me out.  Do we look that much alike?

Don’t worry.  Bennett didn’t come with us.  I have better theater manners than that.
